ACS again for our 2012 programme
We are delighted to announce that we will be using ACS International Schools for our 2012 programme both at Cobham and also expanding to run camps at the sister school in Egham.
The facilities and equipment must rate as among the best in the country with two courts permanently available in a sprung wooden floor gym, something which shouldn't be overlooked when training young athletes in an intensive programme. We anticipate a coach to player ration of 1:6, giving the coaches the opportunity to work with campers on an individual basis.
Ashley and Emma gives us a taste of Sitting Volleyball
Volleyball England CEO checks out VbDC
Ashley Trottem and Emma Wickes treated us to a session introducing Sitting Volleyball to the Summer Camp, where we quickly learned that while you may be sitting down to play this was no easy option.
Emma and Ashley are captain and assistant coach of the GB Womens Sitting Volleyball team.
Writing for 3-Touch
One of the three founders of VbDC, John Biddiscombe has been writing a series of articles for 3-Touch magazine on the use of technology in volleyball.
Drawing on his experience of using Kinovea video analysis software at last summers camp, the first article appeared in the December 2011 issue. Future articles will cover the use of stats and tools to assist club and league administrators.
Inspirational talk for GB team captain
Lisa Wainwright, Chief Executive Officer of Volleyball England, swung by Cobham to see Volleyball Development Camps at first hand.
After watching the morning session Lisa met with the organisers and coaches over lunch, before describing her vision for Volleyball in England over the coming years.

Maintaining the VbDC tradition of attracting inspirational guest speakers, we were honoured to welcome Emma Wicks to our 2011 Summer Camp.
Emma is the captain of the GB Womns Sitting volleyball team and enthralled the campers, coaches and school staff with the story of her life and volleyball career to date.
The question and answer session gave everyone an insight into choices and sacrafices needed to persue a sporting dream.
